Since opening their doors in 2013, Pitfire Artisan Pizza is a consistent dining option in the beach city. General Manager, Christie Olomon, has continued to be a strong supporter of the Chamber through her committee involvement, participation in Chamber initiatives, and donations. Christie is 27 years of age and has been with Pitfire Artisan Pizza for 5 years. She began her career with the company as a server working her way up in the company to where she is now.
We asked Christie a few questions about working in Manhattan Beach and advice she has for others.
1) How long have you been doing business in Manhattan Beach?
Just about two years. We opened on January 31st, 2013
2) What made you choose this area?
The owner Paul Hibler, has always loved Manhattan Beach and had been wanting to join the community for a few years and he loved the location. Once the opportunity arose we jumped on it!
3) How did you engage the community when you first started?
We did a series of soft openings some for friends and family, but also a few specifically for people in the neighborhood to eat and get to know us. The director of Operations, Mitchell Wong, and I also spent a lot of time just going up and down Manhattan Beach Blvd and surrounding areas meeting people and just getting to know the community.
4) What could the Chamber do to make doing business in the area easier?
The Chamber is already pretty helpful, always around when needed. More social media presence and advertising would always be helpful.
5) What would you recommend for prospective business owners?
Manhattan Beach is a great place to be! Such a small, warm community here. Everyone knows everyone and the best thing to do is support the community as much as possible.
6) What’s your take on the evolving chamber?
The Chamber has come such a long way in such a short amount of time. The Chamber and all its members really do so much to make sure all the businesses are welcomed and have really great events that we get to be a part of.
Pitfire Artisan Pizza Manhattan Beach will be hosting the Chamber’s next evening networking event on March 26th from 5:30-7:30pm. Don’t miss out on delicious bites, a free glass of sangria, and discounted drinks while meeting a whole new group of people! Limited tickets available, so register today!
