The 2016 South Bay Business Leaders Summit, formerly the Women in Business Conference, will build off the success of last years revamped event to offer attendees a day full of highly informative and relevant breakout sessions, and the opportunity to meet and network with greater South Bay business leaders to share ideas, inspiration and advice.

The South Bay Business Leaders Summit is one of the largest annual fundraisers for the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization dedicated to the economic development within the local community. Panelist- Osvaldo Martinez
Chief Administrative Officer, Kaiser Permanente
Osvaldo serves as Kaiser Permanente South Bay’s chief administrative officer. Bringing over 15 years of administrative experience to this position. He started his healthcare career at the Veterans Affairs Health Systems and then joined Kaiser Permanente as a senior analyst at the Riverside Medical Center. He was promoted to a project manager in clinical operations in Pasadena in 2003. In that capacity he led the Southern California region in developing and implementing the POE (Proactive Office Encounter) program. This has become a foundation of clinical operations in SCPMG and has built Kaiser’s capability and reputation for clinical excellence and preventive care throughout the nation. Osvaldo will share the tremendous advances in patient experience and care Kaiser Permanente is blazing trails with.
Panelist- Kyle Ransford
Co-Founder, Cardinal Investments
Kyle Ransford is a proven entrepreneur who has successfully started severl businesses, including Cardinal Investment (a commercial, residential and resort real estate developer) and Bank of Manhattan (a community bank in). He has exstensive investment banking experience having previously worked at Hoolihan Lokey and Halcyon Asset Management, LLC. Mr Ransford has been on the other side of the transaction as well as having successfully raised more than $50M for his own startup companies.

With a sometimes conflicting educational background of UCLA undergrad and a USC MBA, Ben is a true believer in the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit. Ben is also an LA native-often a rare thing these days-and brings a creative mind and a consultative approach to real estate advisory, with a focus on facilities operations, financial modeling, and site assessment with experience across a wide range of companies and real estate investors.
In 2008, Ben founded Jones Lang LaSalle’s Global Cleantech Practice Group, which focused on representing renewable energy and clean technology companies in addressing their real estate needs. This only fueled his passion to explore the nexus of energy and real estate, coming to the belief that increasing energy efficiency of our building is one of the most powerful tools to create a truly sustainable society.

Since 2004 he has been an Angel investor and is Director Emeritus of the Pasadena Angels, one of the largest angel groups in the US.

Kristin Hiibner, Ph.D, is an intellectual property attorney with 15+ years of diverse experience in patents, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing, and risk management. Kristin’s Ph.D. is in Organic Chemistry and she has represented companies in a variety of technologies. As an active member of the Pasadena Angels, Kristin invests in early stage Southern California companies and is a frequent presenter on intellectual property and entrepreneur topics in the Los Angeles area.
Panelist – Franklin Monzon,
CEO, Spectradyne LLC
Dr. Monzon spent the majority of his career in the semiconductor industry at Intel, Xponent Photonics, and GCS before co-founding Spectradyne, a maker of scientific instrumentation, in 2013. At Spectradyne, he heads sales, business development, and operations. Dr. Monzon holds a PhD from Caltech and an MBA from UCLA Anderson.

Alex Bayer started in the insurance industry after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, double majoring in business administration and marketing.
He worked with AFLAC for 8 years, and then quickly transitioned to non-profit, running a 501(c)(3) called Karaoke For a Cure for 2 years, and then found his home in the food and beverage industry, creating Genius Juice in 2014.

Patrick Maloney is a business trial lawyer. Since forming The Maloney Firm in 2012, he has successfully litigated hundreds of lawsuits in both state and federal court. When not in the office or the courtroom, Mr. Maloney enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, fishing and boating.
Amanda N. Luftman
Ms. Luftman is an attorney with Boren, Osher & Luftman, LLP. She enjoys an active “advice and counsel” practice: she routinely counsels clients regarding employer/employee matters, deploys preventative counseling, and presents practical solutions for employee disciplinary and other workplace matters. Ms. Luftman drafts and negotiates employment agreements, company policies, and employee handbooks. Ms. Luftman represents employees as well as employers – when companies fail to “get it right” – Ms. Luftman represents former employees in their efforts to achieve more favorable separation terms and litigates their claims when required.
Ms. Luftman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Political Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Ms. Luftman earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. She is a committed foodie who loves to keep up on the latest additions to the Los Angeles restaurant scene.
