EXECUTIVE CHEF – Charlie Gold
Having grown up and around fine foods and creative cooking his entire life, Executive Chef Charlie Gold of the Manhattan Beach Marriott found his greatest inspiration in the kitchen very close to home indeed, his father. With an eye for presentation and a unique flare for tying the entire meal together, Chef Charlie’s father would dazzle friends and family with a creative flair that would always be the height of the evening. It was during those times watching his father that he began to truly appreciate the fine art of food, and the way it made a meal into an experience.
That was when Charlie Gold realized this was more than just an enjoyment, but a passion he eagerly wanted to pursue.
Fast forwarding to his early 20’s, Chef Charlie began attending culinary school and learning the classical French technique to fine cooking. Immediately after graduating, he began his career in the boutique hotel business. It was there that he was mentored by several of the most prestigious hotel Chefs in the industry, most notably Dale Cole, Manfred Lassahn, and Roberto Alicea. It was from these Master Chefs that he would be trained to approach the meal in a completely holistic way, from the first sip of the evening to the final bite of dessert. And with his passion for learning and innate abilities, he found himself quickly rising through the ranks of the kitchen brigade, and at mere 24 years old, Charlie was tapped to be Restaurant Chef at the landmark Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. And he has worked at high-end hotels ever since. Most recently, Chef Charlie served as the prestigious Executive Chef for a luxury Hollywood property before being brought in to head the illustrious kitchens at the Manhattan Beach Marriott & Golf Club where he continues to apply his craft and quench his thirst for learning ever more creative combinations, fantastic flavorings, and memorable meals.
