The Intern Volunteership Program opportunity is a course offered at EF Los Angeles. The purpose of this program, “Communication in the American Workplace” is to assist our international student candidates with creating a U.S. style Cover Letter and Resume. Once these are complete, there is talk about unpaid volunteer internship placement and the interview process. The placement serves as a mutually beneficial exchange between our international students and your business. The process is as follows:
– The program requires a minimum time frame of 8 weeks and can begin at any date and requires concurrent EF English language course enrollment -Upper Intermediate 1 is required for the student to participate
– 50 minimum hours of unpaid service is required for the course completion
– Semester long students who participate in the program and may not be as rushed to complete the hours
Students must maintain attendance in other classes at EF during the week and therefore scheduling can be challenging. Working weekends can be a solution if the employer sponsor offers this option.
These opportunities are considered “volunteerships” and shadowing experiences. EF is fortunate to work with a database of community employer sponsors that are willing to extend this opportunity on a short term basis.
The Center offers many types of local industry placements with small local businesses including Hospitality, Events, Music Production, High School Tutoring, Chamber of Commerce, Fashion and Social Media Marketing and Talent Agency. These are generally entry level positions due to the short term aspect of the program.
